Alessia Cara has been a Canadian musician since 1996. Her parents are of Italian origin. Her parents bought her a new guitar, which she used to develop her passion for the music. She began covering the songs she loved at thirteen to show the world she was a talented musician and the courage necessary to be an artist. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and record her own tracks.
