Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on the 28th of October, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts living in Atlanta. Her father had an early interest in theater. When he was a college pupil studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in several performances. After he enlisted in the Air force, he appeared alongside Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. They got married in 1955. Their first son, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. Walter attended Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in 1957. Walter joined Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur in Georgia in 1960. In 1964 Walter along with Betty Lou began production on the local Saturday morning children's TV show called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they funded their own. In 1964, Betty Lou and Walter founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for 6 years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa, was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
